Britney Spears is returning to How I Met Your Mother, a source tells PEOPLE.

“The show is ecstatic and so is Britney,” a source said. “She had so much fun the first time around she really wanted to come back. It was a mutual decision to work together more.”

The singer/actress will do one episode, the source says. Fox studios would not confirm the appearance.

Spears, 26, appeared on the March 24 episode, playing a receptionist at a dermatologist’s office who fell for one of the show’s main characters, played by Josh Radnor. She received wide accolades for the spot.

“She was hilarious in the table-read, and I got to see her do the run-through as well, and she was great,” cast member Jason Segal said. –Jennifer Garcia, Nicole Weisensee Egan and Lisa Ingrassia.

As Britney Spears continues to strive to get her personal and professional lives back in order, OK! has learned she’s turned to a familiar face for help — former manager Larry Rudolph. Though the pair had parted company a year ago, sources confirm exclusively to OK! that the “Toxic” songstress has once again been taken under Larry’s wing.

Larry and Brit share a long and bumpy history. He was the visionary who discovered the young star Britney and shepherded her career from teen pop tart to international superstar. And when her life began to spiral dangerously out of control in the weeks and months following her Oct. 2006 divorce from Kevin Federline, it was Larry who Britney’s parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, turned to for help getting her into rehab.

After her brief stint at the Promises clinic in Malibu, Brit went public with her ill-feelings toward Larry, chastising him on camera in a bizarre, disjointed rant, for what she viewed as siding with her folks against her.

However, Brit’s dad has always been open about his positive feelings toward Larry, even publicly thanking Larry for his efforts. And now Jamie, who has continued to think the world of Larry both as a manager and as a friend who has Britney’s best interests at heart, has finally convinced Britney to let him take over the reins of her recently resurgent career.

We are hearing from multiple sources that Britney Spears is throwing a fit on the 7th floor of Cedars Sinai. She is demanding to leave, screaming at the staff, will not lay or sit still, we’re told.

From all indications she is being held on a 5150, which means she is a danger to herself and others. Typically people in that situation can be held for 72 hours against their will.

UPDATE- We have also been told she has pulled her IV out and is generally out of control.

If this is true, I’m really glad.  At least she’s not “acting normal” to g et out within 72 hours.  Hopefully this leads them to keeping her for longer, and her realising she has a problem.

Britney apparently cried all night after being rushed to Cedars-Sinai medical center.

A source inside the hospital claims that while being rushed on the stretcher through the hospital corridors, Britney was screaming “I’d rather die than let him have my babies.”  She carried on screaming that she wanted to die.  Hospital staff proceeded to sedate her.

Not sure how reliable the source is, but anything is possible right now…

As her hand-picked group of dancers and choreographers gathered in a Los Angeles studio Wednesday to begin rehearsals for Britney Spears‘ latest video shoot, the troupe was hit with some unpleasant news — the beleaguered pop star has shelved the production.

The reason given for the abrupt change in plans? Brit’s reportedly failed drug test — which rumors on the Internet have chalked up to everything from asthma medication to amphetamines — and her scheduled date in court this Friday, when the video, for her single “Piece of Me,” had been scheduled to be filmed.

Almost as if they had seen into the future, the video’s production team had been preparing for Brit’s absence from rehearsals, seeking out a body double to stand in for the troubled singer during rehearsals — and possibly during portions of the actual shoot itself. However, it appears that even these precautions weren’t enough to keep the video moving forward.

But a source inside Britney’s camp is telling OK! a different story about the cancellation. “The video’s producer was involved in an accident and is not able to film on Friday,” explains a friend of the singer. “They rescheduled it for next week. It’s strictly the production company’s fault and they are paying to compensate for lost time.”

More Britney Spears people are coming forward, in the wake of the TMZ story that Britney tested positive for drugs last week.

A Brit source tells us, “The only thing that comes on the results are the prescriptions, that the court doctor prescribed.” The source added, “There has been no illegal drugs or even alcohol in any of the test results.”

We know Britney is seeing a shrink as part of the ongoing custody brouhaha. That could be what the source was talking about with respect to the court doctor.

We’ve learned that K-Fed is going back to court tomorrow, arguing that Brit is violating the Commissioner’s drug testing order.

Sources say K-Fed’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, will go before L.A. Country Commissioner Scott Gordon tomorrow morning, arguing that Britney has failed to respond in a timely manner when she is called for random drug testing. We’re told Kaplan will ask to modify the existing custody order, giving Britney limited visitation rights.

We’re told neither Britney nor K-Fed will be present. And, we’re told, this could be a real dogfight.

Aside from maybe Britney Spears herself, there is probably no one on this planet more familiar with the ins and outs of the pop starlet’s life in recent months than her good friend and constant companion Sam Lufti. From the courthouse to the nightclub, the “Gimme More” singer rarely goes anywhere these days without her guy-friend Sam, which made him the perfect person to sit down with OK! to clear the air of all the rumors and allegations surrounding the former Mrs. Kevin Federline.

In an exclusive interview in the new issue of OK!, Sam talks openly about everything from what Brit’s career plans are for the future to stories of drug and alcohol abuse by the 25-year-old mother of two.

“When the state does eight random drug tests and they all come out negative, that speaks for itself,” Sam explains to OK!. “I said five months ago that she doesn’t do drugs, and now the judge is saying it.”

Well, one of the reasons so many believe those substance abuse rumors is Britney’s odd behavior in recent months, including her seemingly aimless, multi-hour-long drives around Malibu and Los Angeles. “Sometimes she just doesn’t want to deal with the paparazzi,” says Sam. “It gets scary out there for her and she decides, ‘All right, I’m just going to go home.’”

As for Brit’s tense relationship with ex-hubby K-Fed, Sam says Britney wants to remain friendly with the wannabe rapper and that it hurts her when people slam him in the press. “She doesn’t like anyone talking bad about him. He’s the father of her children.”

Lynne Spears will publish an autobiography detailing the trials and tribulations of raising superstar children, OK! can exclusively confirm.

Set for a spring 2008 release, mama Spears’ memoir will give readers and fans a revealing look into her “personal story” of grooming Britney, 25, and Jamie Lynn, 16, into big-time celebs “while coming from a low-profile Louisiana community,” a source tells OK!

The tome will be published by Thomas Nelson, a well-known Christian publisher.

This isn’t Lynne’s first foray into writing. In better mother-daughter days, the former grade-school teacher collaborated with Britney to publish Heart to Heart in 2000 and A Mother’s Gift in 2003.

A week ago, Kevin Federline grudgingly consented to allow Britney Spears overnight visits with sons Sean Preston and Jayden James.

It didn’t take long for him to change his mind.

During a closed-door emergency hearing Wednesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon suspended Spears’ visitation rights until she complied with his full custody order, which includes parenting sessions and random drug tests.

The decision has devastated the singer.

“She’s really upset,” a source close to Spears tells E! Online. “She keeps saying, ‘I can’t believe this is happening.’ It’s like she just can’t accept what’s happened.”

A second source familiar with the ongoing custody tug-of-war tells E! Online Federline was so angry when the children came back to him after their last visit with Spears two days ago he vowed to do whatever it takes to keep his ex-wife from seeing their babies again until she cleans up her act.

“She just doesn’t take parenting seriously,” the Federline insider says. “And Kevin knows it. He keeps saying he’s genuinely scared for their safety.” And not even a court-ordered monitor has changed that.

“He knows that even with monitored visits, no one can make Britney do what she doesn’t want to do,” the source adds. “She’s used to telling people what to do, pushing people out of her way. She’s a hard woman to control.”

Federline was convinced Spears wasn’t living up to her maternal responsibilities after the kids came back to his house crying and surly.

“They came back to his house, and their eating schedule was off, their sleeping schedule was off, and they won’t listen to him, because he knows they haven’t been getting any discipline at her house,” the Federline associate claims.

“He has to start all over, getting them settled again, calm them down and reintroduce them to their normal schedules. And it’s frustrating for him. He’s been tolerating this for a long time, but he thought maybe it would get better with a monitor involved. It hasn’t.”

During the last dropoff with the kids two days ago, eyewitnesses say Spears appeared to be in a very foul mood, even snapping at her brand-new assistant.

“She was walking very fast and then bitching because her new assistant wasn’t walking fast enough to keep up,” recounts the insider from the Federline camp. “She kept saying things like, ‘Oh, come on! Will you hurry up?’ And it just made the whole situation so tense for everyone.”

Federline heard about how ill-tempered Spears seemed after the fact, because he doesn’t go to the dropoffs himself, instead preferring to let security bring him the children.

“He just knows he can’t see her, because she is so unapproachable, and he’s afraid she’ll get all bananas in front of the kids, like she used to when they were married,” the K-Fed source says.

Federline is also concerned about the level of paparazzi attention to Spears’ every move.

“When they were married, they had a dozen or so photographers following them around,” the Federline insider continues. “But now, she’s got this unmanageable horde around her all the time. Sometimes 50 or more people are all around her, and what kind of affect does that have on the kids? But Brit doesn’t care anymore, she just acts like it’s all so normal.”

Federline turned to his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, for help once again, asking him to look into how the monitored visits are going and whether Spears had been going to the parenting coach. She apparently had not. She also may have missed a drug test.

“So, Kevin wanted back in court right away to see about cutting off her visits,” the Federline source explains.

The parenting coach is due to submit a report at the next hearing on Oct. 26, when Gordon may modify the custody arrangement yet again. Spears and Federline are both expected to attend.

Adds the K-Fed source: “Kevin believes it’s the only way she’ll start paying attention to her responsibilities, by making her feel the consequences of shirking them.”

After a whirlwind week of drama for Britney Spears, OK! has learned exclusively that , in an attempt to earn back custody of her children, the pop princess may be checking into rehab at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Centre in Antigua, over the weekend.

According to a pal of the 25-year-old pop star, Brit is planning on checking into rehab this Saturday. “Britney’s team has been working closely with her attorneys to figure out a way to get the babies back from Kevin,” the friend tells OK!, “She’s surrendering herself to rehab for treatment of depression and alcohol so that there’s no questioning if she is drinking or missing any future tests.”

Brit’s friend says, “She’s got to pull her life together or else she’ll lose the kids for good. She will do whatever her legal team and those closest to her thinks is best if it means she gets Preston and Jayden back. She’s getting the help she needs and everyone is hoping she goes through with it this time.”

However, Brit’s cousin (and former roommate) Alli Sims has gone on the record saying Britney is not going to be checking in anytime soon.

Probably not true, but with everything going on in the last couple of weeks, who can be sure?

According to multiple sources, the video for “Gimme More” that Britney shot back in July and August will premiere on Thursday’s edition of TRL on MTV in the US.

The video is said to open with a funeral scene, which Britney is at.  She then leaves the funeral and is followed by a guy who is chasing her.  She makes her way to a club where she walks through different corridors into rooms with different “Britneys” such as the stripper-Britney we saw pictures of in August.  The guy who is chasing her is trying to find out which one is the real Britney.  Rumours, but it sounds like an interesting concept…

Is Britney Spears considering gracing another awards show stage just a week after her MTV Video Music Awards disaster?

Yes, according to an Emmy Awards show source, who tells Usmagazine.com that Fox network brass were “in negotiations” with Brit’s camp as of Thursday afternoon to get her on this Sunday night’s annual telecast. The source adds that while her appearance has not yet been confirmed, “the idea is to have her come on and apologize for the VMAs. She’s weighing the offer.”

Spears, 25, opened last Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards to scathing reviews. Since then, her lackluster performance has been blamed on just about everything, from her hair to her work ethicto her entertainment lawyer.

Though Spears has been keeping a low profile since the show, a source tells Us that at least some within her inner circle are receptive to the Emmy idea and are urging her to do it.

However, a source close to Spears says: “I can’t say this is 100 percent not true. All I can say is that the Emmy people aren’t dealing with her record company, her manager or her agents at William Morris. So if she is doing anything for the Emmys then it’s not going through the official channels.”

After Britney’s performance last night, ‘comedienne’ Sarah Silverman insulted Britney by saying she had ‘accomplished everything she was ever going to’, and also made fun of her kids by calling them mistakes.

Apparently, Britney overheard her rehearsing her comments backstage and told MTV she wouldn’t perform if they let her say them. MTV agreed and told Silverman not to use her monologue, but she defied them and did it anyway.

Britney was also reportedly found crying to her assistant Alli Sims in the bathroom after she got off stage.

Seriously, after watching the performance again in HQ, I like it! Sure, it wasn’t spectacular, but if it was any other artist doing that performance I bet everyone would have loved it.

All the tabloids and TV shows are saying she was FAT! Are they blind? Britney looked amazing, you can’t even tell she had her second baby less than a year ago. I think this just shows how sick celebrity culture is these days.

Also, there are rumours that Britney didn’t perform her ‘magical’ show with Criss Angel due to Insurance problems. The Palms hotel (where it was broadcast from) told MTV that she couldn’t do it as it was too much of a liability, so sources say that she had to change the performance at the last minute…
