Britney Spears was at the Alicia Keys concert last night with her mom and dad — the night before her big showdown in court.

Spies tell us security at the Staples Center in Los Angeles had to clear the bathroom out when Britney went to tinkle. She was followed back and forth from the little girls’ room by a stampede of little girls — it looked like a “cattle call,” our spy said.

Brit was a good girl though — she was gone by 10:30 PM.

Britney Spears is home again: The pop star left California on Friday and returned to her hometown of Kentwood, La. – her first trip back since before her hospitalization and custody battles of the past year, a source tells PEOPLE.

Also in town is Spears’s father, Jamie, who remains in legal control of her affairs until a July 31 hearing.

The singer’s arrival in her home state comes as sources say there is a planned baby shower over the weekend for her 17-year-old sister Jamie Lynn, who announced her pregnancy in December.

Spears, 26, last visited Kentwood in early 2007 for her aunt’s funeral.

Driving away from a Bally Total Fitness gym in Culver City, Calif., recently, Britney Spears was smiling from ear to ear — and with good reason. The singer has been sweating up a storm in an attempt to get in shape, and thanks to three-times-a-day workouts and a five-small-meals-a-day diet, Britney, 26, is already on her way to getting back her sexy body.

“We’re very excited to see Britney using our clubs so often and enjoying her workouts,” Bally’s chief marketing officer John Wildman tells OK!. “She’s taking advantage of our personal-training and nutritional programs and getting great results. She’s working extremely hard on both programs.”

Now Brit is working with Bally’s trainer Mark Corlis, an insider tells OK!. “She’s doing really well with him,” the source says. “Mark doesn’t cut Britney any slack. He doesn’t baby her, and that’s why she likes him.”

Britney’s exercise program is called Active Recovery. That’s when you work each muscle group intently for a short period of time until you exhaust it, moving — without resting — from muscle group to muscle group. The mother of two is doing it a couple of times each day, followed by late-night cardio at home.

That final workout is key to Britney’s routine because she’s burning off her last meal before going to sleep.

The junk-food junkie has also taken a new approach to eating. Her five small meals a day have cut her daily total caloric intake down by about 1,000 calories. The good news? She can still eat many of the foods she loves, including pasta and pizza, but in much smaller portions.

And that’s a good thing because OK! has learned that her goal is to go from her current approximate weight of 133 pounds down to 118 over a sensible three months. “Britney carries a lot of muscle, so she is never going to be one of those 100-pound girls,” the source tells OK!.

Britney Spears is unhurt after being involved in a highway accident Saturday evening in the Los Angeles area.

The pop star was driving her 2008 white Mercedes northbound on the 405 connector to the 101 freeway when the collision occurred at 8:18 p.m., the California Highway Patrol confirmed.

According to the accident report, “The collision occurred when the driver of the Mercedes, driving in the #3 lane, in stop and go traffic failed to observe the vehicle directly ahead of her come to a complete stop. She attempted to brake but failed to stop her vehicle prior to colliding into the rear of the Nissan [in front of her].”

The Nissan, as a result, collided into another car, which was not damaged. No one was injured, according to the report.

Later on Saturday night, Spears went out to dinner at Dominick’s in West Hollywood with her mother Lynne – driven by bodyguards.

Britney Spears was so touched by Idol Gives Back on Wednesday, April 9, that she donated $25,000 to the cause, Life & Style can exclusively reveal.

“She did it all on her own. She watched the show and cried for like two hours over the children in Africa with malaria,” a Spears family insider tells Life & Style.

“She didn’t know much about the disease, so she Googled it. She was horrified to realize kids were dying from mosquito bites.

“So she went online and donated after getting [her dad] Jamie’s permission. She used her Amex.”

A spokesperson for Fox declined to comment.

With her mother in tow, Britney Spears stopped by the corporate offices of Hollywood clothing store Ed Hardy on Thursday to buy birthday presents for sister Jamie Lynn, who turns 17 on Friday.

The singer was “in good spirits” according to Nicole Irving, a representative for the store. Spears stopped in the afternoon to visit designer Christian Audigier and browse the new spring collection.

“Christian and she were laughing as she tried on Ed Hardy sunglasses and checked out the bathing suits,” says the rep.

For her sister (and mom-to-be), Britney, donning a pink Ed Hardy shirt, picked out a large selection of Christian Audigier handbags, scarves, and Crystal Rock T-shirts. She also snagged items for her father and brother.

Earlier Thursday, Spears, 26, spent the morning visiting sons Preston and Jayden at her Studio City house.

Britney Spears celebrated her big TV comeback Monday night with a dinner date with her bodyguard and a female friend in Beverly Hills.

Throughout her meal at Italian restaurant Dominick’s, Spears, 26 — who did not drink — spoke in her British accent, a fellow diner tells Usmagazine.com.

“She looked so good, completely normal,” the eyewitness adds. “She was smiling and laughing in the loud obnoxious Britney laugh.”

The singer had a good reason to rejoice: Her cameo on CBS’ Hot I Met Your Mother won over the critics.

“She looked beautiful and had screen presence,” Charna Halpern, artistic director of Chicago’s Improv Olympic Comedy Club, tells Us. “Even when she was behind the desk and they made her look kind of homely, she was adorable.”

Britney Spears‘ sitcom comeback Monday night was met with warm reception by critics.

“She did pretty good” playing a dorky receptionist who falls for Ted (Josh Radnor) on CBS’ Hot I Met Your Mother, Charna Halpern, artistic director of Chicago’s Improv Olympic Comedy Club, tells Usmagazine.com. “There was a sweetness to her, a vulnerability.

“She looked beautiful and had screen presence,” adds Halpern, who has trained such comedians as Tina Fey. “Even when she was behind the desk and they made her look kind of homely, she was adorable.”

Her comedic timing “was good at some parts, especially in some of her reactions,” Dean Cudworth, director of the Idol Camp, tells Us.

Cudworth said the scene where she handed Ted an embarrassing self-help book he had left in the lobby “really worked because she was relaxed,” Cudworth said. “She was listening to the other characters and played off their performances with ease.”

Her role was “over the top, and she certainly went for it,” Aliza Shane, senior director of NYC’s Looking Glass Theater, tells Us. “Clearly, she likes being on camera, no one can argue that!”

Britney Spears has already earned rave reviews from her How I Met Your Mother castmates. Now the pop star is sharing the love.

“Working at How I Met Your Mother has been so terrific,” Spears says. “Everyone, including the cast, the crew and the producers, has been wonderful and Abby is such a fun girl to play. I’m having a blast!”

The singer, who arrived on set promptly at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, is expected to continue shooting on Thursday afternoon following a visit with her sons. “The filming schedule was worked out so that she could still keep her visitation with her two boys,” a source tells PEOPLE. “That was very important.”

Apart from her assistant, Brett, the singer was joined on set Wednesday by her father, Jamie, and mother, Lynne. “Her parents kept thanking everyone onset … saying this is just what their daughter needed,” the source says.

Plus, Spears was quite prepared for her role. While castmember Josh Radnor joked that the singer “knew her lines better than I knew mine,” a show source confirms that the singer was “very sweet and cute and she chewed gum obsessively on set.”

If all goes well, could this be a continuing role? Says the show source: “She had a lot of fun doing it and she even mentioned extending her character. Who knows? She got along really well with everyone.”

Troubled star BRITNEY SPEARS is doing her bit for charity by selling off a photo of herself and a group of 10 young children she has been teaching at the North Hollywood Millennium Dance Complex.

The photograph is going to be given to a celebrity photo agency to syndicate worldwide - and all profits will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Memphis, Tennessee which treats patients with cancer.

Jamie Spears will remain in control of his daughter Britney Spears’s finances and other aspects of the pop star’s life until July 31, a judge ruled Wednesday in an unscheduled hearing.

No reporters were present for the proceeedings, although two sources confirm to PEOPLE that Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz extended the temporary conservatorship that had been ordered on Feb. 4, during Spears’s second stint in a psychiatric facility.

“I can confirm that the order was issued this afternoon, but I don’t know the attorneys’ motives,” Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini tells PEOPLE.

The temporary conservatorship had been scheduled to expire March 10. Hearings are still scheduled before Goetz on that date and on March 17, sources say.

Jamie Spears has been overseeing his 26-year-old daughter’s well-being and her estimated $100 million fortune since Feb. 1, when Goetz named him and Andrew Wallet temporary co-conservators, giving them the right to employ bodyguards and restrict her visitors.

A source close to Britney says she’s okay with her dad being in control. On Feb. 23, she was allowed to spend time with her sons Preston, 2, and Jayden, 17 months, for the first time since her Jan. 3 standoff with the police, and she has had regular visits since. “She is getting along well with her father and enjoying the closeness and support of her family,” says a source.

Almost immediately following her release from the hospital in early February, Britney Spears went back into the dance studio, not only to work on her upcoming video, but to get back to one of her former favorite pastimes — teaching young boys and girls how to shake their tail-feathers like a platinum-selling pop star.

And now, as the singer continues her closed-door sessions with these lucky kids, OK! brings you an exclusive look at exactly what she’s teaching them — and how it’s helping her to become a better mom.

“We started out with about seven kids and now we’ve doubled that to 15,” Robert Baker, owner of Millennium Dance Studios, where Brit teaches and rehearses, explains exclusively to OK!. “She wants to have different kids in the class each time to give everyone a chance to have fun.”

At a class on Feb. 25, the students, who range in age from 8 to 15, lined up and handed Britney little gifts of flowers, chocolates and homemade cards. “She was so touched,” Robert remembers. “She thanked each child individually. It was kind of surreal and very cute.”

Robert tells OK! that the best part of each class comes at the end, when Britney plays a variety of dance games with her students. “One is called Freeze,” he explains. “Everyone creates a circle and does a little dance step. Whoever gets off step has to stand in the circle. One time recently, she got off step but she didn’t want to get into the circle, saying, ‘Oh no, you guys! I’m not getting in the circle!’”

But with the students shouting back, “You got off step! You have to get in!” the pop star didn’t have much of a choice. “The kids kind of revolted,” says Robert. “It was very cute. And, of course she did it, and the kids went crazy laughing.”

These lessons appear to be having a therapeutic effect on the mother of two. “Seeing her with these children, and then having these regular visits with her boys,” Robert explains. “It’s connecting the dots. I’m seeing a return to the old, loving Britney from before. She’s really improving.”

Britney Spears was reunited with her sons for three hours on Saturday.

After lawyers for Spears and Kevin Federline reached a visitation agreement Friday, the pop star saw her children Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1, for the first time since Jan. 3.

The boys left Federline’s Tarzana house Saturday morning – put in their car seats by their father, according to photographers – and were driven by Federline’s bodyguard to Spears’s Studio City home.

A source involved in the case says, “The real hero was [Spears's father] Jamie. He has taken charge, and she has visitation again.”

Sources confirm to PEOPLE that Jamie and Britney’s psychiatrist were present for the visit.

After a three-hour stay, Spears’s sons left again in the back of Federline’s grey Dodge truck driven by his bodyguard.

Britney Spears’s pal Sam Lutfi was served Thursday with a temporary restraining order to keep him away from the troubled pop star, according to court papers.

The order was sought by the temporary co-conservators of Spears’s $100 million estate – her father Jamie and an attorney.

Lutfi had been accused by Britney’s mother of drugging, verbally abusing and controlling the singer, who has been in-and-out hospitalized in two different psych wards recently. He was served at 11 a.m. as he left his apartment in Westside Los Angeles.

E! News has learned that Britney Spears met secretly with her pal Alli Sims Friday afternoon at the Fred Segal boutique in West Hollywood.

Sources tell E! that Sims arrived at the store about 10 minutes before Britney who then tried to slip inside unnoticed. A source tells E! that Spears hatched the meet-up via text-message, reportedly instructing Sims to meet her in a dressing room there.

The stealth tactics were apparently prompted by the fact that Alli has been prohibited from seeing Britney by her father Jamie Spears due to Alli’s loyalty to Britney’s former manager and confidante Sam Lutfi. After their cloakroom confab, the pair shopped together briefly.

Later, confronted by an E! video crew outside Italian restaurant Orso on Saturday night, Sims confirmed the Fred Segal meeting with Spears. Sims told E! camera man James Sullivan that she and Britney “had fun” shopping, but Sims wouldn’t comment when asked about how Sam is doing.

Well, we know what Sam wasn’t doing. Around the same time Sims confirmed her meeting with Britney to E!, Spears was at L.A. nightclub Social with an unusual party partner: her father Jamie.

And, needless to say, no Sam in sight.

Britney Spears marked a relatively quiet President’s Day weekend, with her Saturday spent in the company of her father and her assistant Brett inside her Beverly Hills home.

When his daughter did go out, Jamie Spears, who has been appointed a conservator in charge of Britney’s well-being and her finances, accompanied her to dinner, with the two joining a small party at Citrus at Social Hollywood, on Sunset Boulevard.

Outside chef Michel Richards’s new restaurant, a photographer asked the pop star, 26, how she was doing. “Good,” she replied gently.

At dinner, “she seemed totally normal and level-headed, and everyone with her seemed calm,” said a customer in the restaurant. “She was with a table of five people.”

When she left, she exited through a side door, and took a coffee cup with her.

The occasion was a stark contrast to exactly a year ago, when a frenzied Spears went into a San Fernando Valley salon and shaved off her hair.

On Saturday, she wore a long chocolate-brown jersey dress with spaghetti straps, accessorized with silver jewelry including drop earrings, a necklace and a watch.

The previous day, the singer spent time inside some West Hollywood boutiques, where she browsed rather than bought.

The weekend also brought an invitation from her Beverly Hills neighbor, Heidi Klum – who said Spears could come live with her, husband Seal and their three children as a means to help get her life back on track.

Britney Spears’s family members tightened their grip on her finances Thursday as the court extended her father’s co-conservator role and granted her brother influence over her day-to-day expenses.

L.A. Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz made the rulings amid signs that the singer’s family has helped keep Britney out of trouble since her early release from a psych ward.

Her father Jamie Spears has been overseeing his 26-year-old daughter’s well-being and her estimated $100-million fortune since Feb. 1, when Goetz named him and Andrew Wallet temporary co-conservators – giving them the right to employ bodyguards who control Britney’s actions and restrict her visitors.

On Thursday, Jamie and Wallet requested that the status quo be maintained until March 10 because a psychiatric evaluation of Britney, due Wednesday, had not yet been submitted. The commissioner granted the extension, scheduling a hearing that day to consider extending the conservatorship even further.

Britney’s father and Wallet were also granted the power to handle the singer’s taxes, and Britney’s brother Bryan, 30, was named as a trustee of her trust. According to court papers, trust funds are used “to pay for Britney’s continued security, and to pay for her medicine, food, other day-to-day expenses and for psychiatric and other medical services.”

Attorney Jeryll Cohen, representing Jamie, says they still haven’t been able to serve a restraining order against Britney’s pal Sam Lutfi who, Cohen says, seems to be avoiding service. Lynne Spears has accused Lutfi of drugging and verbally abusing her daughter.

Since Britney’s father has taken charge of her affairs, she has kept an uncharacteristically low profile with relatively low-key outings: shopping with her mom, Lynne, and regular trips to the Millennium Dance Complex.

“She’s getting proper medical care and has professional security. The chaos has been removed from the situation,” says one legal insider.

Meanwhile, as Jamie was in court, Britney’s mother, Lynne, was spotted heading out of town at Los Angeles International Airport Thursday.

Britney Spears returned to her role as teacher yesterday afternoon, leading a dance lesson at North Hollywood’s Millennium Dance Complex.

Usmagazine.com caught up with local resident Grace Mitjans and her daughter Gigi, who attended both classes. They praised the pop singer’s teaching skills.

“I got a call at 5 p.m. [Monday] saying that Britney was teaching a dancing class at 6 p.m. and that Gigi should come,” mom Grace told Us yesterday afternoon after Spears’ second class.

“So we rush down here and when we arrived, we were ushered to the back. There were photographers on the balconies — it was crazy!”

When they arrived, they immediately spotted Spears, who was “dressed in tiny black shorts with a pink top and black boots,” said mom Grace.

Added daughter Gigi, “[Britney] came up and gave me a big hug. She hugged me three times last night! She was so nice. I brought her a chocolate Valentine rose. She said thank you and put it in her bag.”

Daughter Gigi said they danced to Madonna’s “Material Girl.”

“Britney was very into it and personally made sure every kid was having a great time,” mom Grace said.

As the students left the room, Spears “told us that she appreciates us coming and she hopes we come again,” mom Grace said.

Added daughter Gigi: “She hugged me again. When I got home, I cried in bed because I was so happy.”

They returned Tuesday for a second session.

“We showed up, and she was wearing Cheetah shorts and looked so healthy and beautiful,” the student’s mother, Grace, told Us. “Her butt was hanging out.”

Despite the fashion slip-up, daughter Gigi said Spears was still in control.

“We danced, and she hugged me again. I gave her my phone number on a Valentine card and she said thank you,” Gigi said.

Spears, mom Grace said, “welled up with tears and said that she really appreciated it.”

When asked if she thought Spears is “a good mommy,” daughter Gigi emphatically told Us, “Yes!”

Mom Grace told Us she wasn’t uneasy leaving her daughter under Spears’ guidance.

“I have never seen my daughter so happy!” mom Grace told Us. “She is learning some dance moves too that she was doing all last night.

“She was so excited to show them to Britney today and told her that she practiced for her. Britney said, ‘Awwww!’”

Spears, added mom Grace, “is young and made some mistakes. It is obvious that she loves kids very much and that she is great with children. I will bring my daughter to every one of her classes.”

Spears plans to teach another class on Thursday.

OK! has learned that Britney Spears will head back to Millennium Dance Complex this afternoon to teach another group of children to dance.

The 26 year old pop star reportedly enjoyed her class so much on Monday that she couldn’t wait to do it again. Eyewitnesses tell OK! that Britney’s class will start this afternoon at 4 p.m. PT. We’ll be there to give you all the details as they unfold!

UPDATE: Class started right at 4 p.m. An eyewitness says Britney is in the largest studio inside the complex with 12 kids. She is wearing red suede boots, fishnet stockings and a white t-shirt. She started the class with a warm up to Janet Jackson.

At 4:4o p.m. the class ended. An eyewitness says Lynn Spears arrived shortly afterwards and was ushered into the dance studio where Britney had taught the class.  OK! has learned that the class was originally scheduled for tonight at 6 p.m. but at the last minute, Brit changed her mind and moved the time up to 4 p.m.

Britney Spears taught dance to children not much older than her own boys on Monday at Millennium Dance Complex in North Hollywood.

The pop star — who skipped the Grammys — kicked off the class by introducing herself to each five year old and shaking their hand, a source said. “She comes in, she winds them up, and then tells them, ‘I guess I have to introduce myself to you guys!’” said Robert Baker, Millennium co-owner.

Britney looked happy and upbeat, he said. Madonna’s “Material Girl” and “True Blue” were part of her play list. Britney led the class in “her favorite brown cowboy boots, fishnet stockings, a red short skirt, and a bluish greenish top that hangs down past her skirt.”

“She worked out this great little routine for them, they were dancing all over the place, she had them dancing in a circle like a choo-choo train,” he said. “The kids loved it- they are having a ball right now. And Britney- she’s just drinking it up. She’s totally enjoying herself. It’s an amazing class- she and the kids are certainly enjoying the process.”

Parents for the seven kids waited outside while she taught. A little girl, who took the class, gushed, “We had so much fun. Britney was wearing little red shorts and she looked so pretty” as she and her mother headed to their car.

She last saw her sons, Sean and Jayden, on January 3 when she was rushed to Cedars-Sinai for a psychological evaluation. Her visitation rights were suspended soon after. Less than a month later, Britney was involuntarily committed for 10 days to UCLA Medical Center for treatment of bipolar disorder. She has been a staple at the studio since she was released Wednesday, Feb. 6.

“Britney’s telling me that she likes this so much that she’s thinking about making it a regular thing, possibly every other week. She loves to interact with the kids, and she feels that it’s important to give back to the dance community,” Baker said.
