Casey Aldridge, the father of Jamie Lynn Spears’s 10-month-old daughter Maddie, was injured in a car accident early Sunday morning, sources tell PEOPLE.

Spears, 18, and Aldridge’s sister are at Casey’s side where he is hospitalized at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, according to sources. Staff at the hospital would not confirm that Aldridge is undergoing treatment there.

A family source tells PEOPLE Aldridge has “a cracked skull” and has been “in and out” of consciousness. However, the source says: “It’s not as serious as we thought at first.”

Aldridge, 19, was driving his truck with several passengers inside when it went off the shoulder of the road and flipped over, sources say.

“This must be just horrible for Jamie Lynn,” says another source. “I know she loves him.”

Police have not commented on the accident. A rep for Spears has yet to comment.

Britney Spears made it a cozy New Year’s Eve with her family – seeing big brother Bryan, 31, tie the knot in a private ceremony at New Orleans landmark Latrobe’s on Royal.

“It was beautiful,” a source tells PEOPLE about the elder Spears’s wedding to Graciella Sanchez, 36, longtime manager of little sister Jamie Lynn. “It was only close family, very small and intimate.”

While the couple’s engagement may have caught many by surprise – they only recently started dating seriously – the two have been acquaintances for years.

“The family was totally excited,” a friend of the family tells PEOPLE. “Graciella’s wonderful. Everybody was happy about it.”

The bride looked stunning in a beige-white Carolina Herrera dress, while the groom sported a smart Marc Jacobs suit. As for the guests? Sanchez’s mother and brother were in attendance, as was the entire Spears crew including sisters Britney and Jamie Lynn; their kids Jayden James, Preston and Maddie; Jamie Lynn’s fiancé Casey Aldridge; and parents Jamie and Lynne.

Jamie Lynn Spears brought two-month-old daughter Maddie to Los Angeles Wednesday for the baby’s first ever play date with Britney’s two sons.

The 17-year-old flew from Louisiana – along with her baby and her mother Lynne (whose memoir comes out next week). The whole family then headed to Britney’s Studio City house, where the singer was enjoying a regular visitation day with her two boys, Preston, who turns 3 on Sunday, and Jayden, who turns 2 on Friday.

Britney’s ex, Kevin Federline, came to pick up his sons himself, and stayed for about an hour to take part in the reunion.

Jamie Lynn’s new house is in Liberty, Miss. — just 30 minutes from her mom Lynne Spears’ house, Serenity, in Kentwood, La. — and it sits on three acres, which is more than enough space to put up a tent for a private, late fall ceremony.

“She loves everything about the area where she lives. She’s not going to get married at some luxury resort in the Caribbean or a hotel in Beverly Hills,” a friend of the bride-to-be tells OK!. “Her own backyard with just the people who matter most is more Jamie Lynn’s style.”

And with the wedding approaching quickly, Jamie Lynn is planning to look her best on the big day. “She’s already down to her pre-pregnancy weight,” says the friend. “She has the cutest figure!”

Of course, big sis Britney Spears will be her Jamie Lynn’s maid of honor, and Casey’s sister Ashlee will be one of her bridesmaids. And tiny toddler Maddie will be an integral part of the wedding — possibly in a basket decorated with flowers and carried into the ceremony by the bride and groom’s mothers.

Casey Aldridge has been close to the Spears family, as both a hometown boy dating youngest daughter Jamie Lynn and as a buffer standing between the teenage actress and the pressures of Hollywood.

“He took amazing care of Jamie Lynn,” a source close to the family tells PEOPLE. “Anything ever went wrong, he always comforted her. He took care of her.”

Jamie Lynn and her mother say that Aldridge is the father of the 16-year-old Zoey 101 star’s baby.

Aldridge, who is believed to be 18 or 19, has stayed largely out of the Hollywood spotlight, only occasionally accompanying Jamie Lynn to Hollywood events.

He grew up in Liberty, Miss., about 30 miles from the Spears family home base in Kentwood, La., and played high school baseball and football (he’s listed in a sports directory as a lean 6′1″, 165 lbs).

Recently, he has lived in Southern California and was a fixture at the condo where Jamie Lynn stayed with her mother, Lynne, while filming the Nickelodeon series Zoey 101. Aldridge drove her to the Valencia set, near Los Angeles, every day and stayed there while she worked, impressing Lynne and Jamie Lynn’s father, Jamie.

“Jaime talks about how he really likes Casey because he’s a great guy,” the Spears family source says. “Lynne really likes him, too. He’s a good kid, cares a lot about Jamie Lynn. They both adore Casey.”

The pregnancy, a source close to Aldridge says, was a surprise.

“I’m sure it was a shock to him,” the source says. “He has all sorts of plans for his future. He wants to start his own business, maybe get a degree and make something of himself.”

The source says that Aldridge will take responsibility for his actions.

“He’s a stand-up guy, and he will take care of the baby,” the source says. “He is not the type to let her deal with it on her own. He will be there in any way he can. … I know a baby wasn’t in his plans for right now, but he’ll do what he has to do, and he’ll be a good father. He really will.”

Why is everyone reporting he’s 19? As far as I know, he’s only 17, a year older than her.

Lynne Spears’s book about raising her famous daughters Britney and Jamie Lynn has been put on hold, the publisher confirms to PEOPLE.

“The book is delayed indefinitely. It’s delayed, not cancelled,” says a spokeswoman for Thomas Nelson, which publishes inspirational books and Bibles.

It had been scheduled for a spring 2008 release and was put on hold last week, says the rep. On Tuesday, news hit that 16-year-old Jamie Lynn is pregnant with her boyfriend’s child.

Publishers’ Weekly described the book as “Lynne Spears’s personal story of raising high-profile children while coming from a low-profile Louisiana community.”

The publisher declined to comment on whether the focus of the book would change in light of the pregnancy announcement.

“We are standing behind Lynn at this time and understand that she needs time with her family – we support that,” says the spokeswoman.

Jamie Lynn Spears, the 16-year-old “Zoey 101″ star and sister of Britney, tells OK! magazine that she’s pregnant and that the father is her longtime boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.

“It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected,” she says. “I was in complete and total shock and so was he.”

Spears is 12 weeks along (3 months) and initially kept the news to herself when she learned of the pregnancy from an at-home test and subsequent doctor visit, she told the celebrity magazine, which hits stands in New York on Wednesday and the rest of the country by Friday.

“As soon as I found out for sure from the doctor, I took two weeks to myself where I didn’t tell anybody,” she says. “Only one of my friends knew because I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone’s opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me.”

Spears broke the news to her mother, Lynne, just before Thanksgiving, the magazine says.

“She was very upset because it wasn’t what she expected at all,” Spears says. “A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive.”

Lynne Spears, already grandmother to Britney’s young sons, says: “I didn’t believe it because Jamie Lynn’s always been so conscientious. She’s never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby.”

She says her actress daughter, the telegenic heroine of the popular Nickelodeon series “Zoey 101,” has known Aldridge for years and began dating him in high school.

Jamie Lynn plans to raise the baby in her home state of Louisiana – “so it can have a normal family life.”

The third season of “Zoey 101″ wraps up Jan. 4.

“I haven’t spoken to (Nickelodeon) personally, but they have always been so great to me over the past years and have given me so many opportunities.”

What message does she want to send to other teens about premarital sex?

“I definitely don’t think it’s something you should do; it’s better to wait,” she says. “But I can’t be judgmental because it’s a position I put myself in.”

Nickelodeon, the company that produces and airs Jamie Lynn’s hit kids show “Zoey 101″ has released a statement regarding her shock pregnancy:

“We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.”

She tells the mag that the father is Casey Aldridge, who she has been dating for some time and first met at church. Brit’s younger sister, star of Nick’s “Zoey 101,” says she’s keeping the baby.

Sources tell us that she has not yet told her older sister. Well, she knows now.
