Beatles Or Elvis?
Beatles. They are just so iconic
What’s the most frequently played song on your iPod?
Right now, its Beyonce’s “Halo” – it just puts me in a trance. Its so well written and she is so intense singing it.
Will you get to do any sightseeing in Australia? Hit the beach maybe?
I hope to do some sightseeing and I will definately be going to the beach. I hear they are the most beautiful in the world.
What was the last concert you saw (besides your own)?
The last concert I saw was Alicia Keys. I was hoping to see Beyonce, but I missed it
What TV Show do you never miss?
I love True Blood. I record it just in case I do miss it.
What’s the best holiday you’ve had?
Last Christmas was the best. I got to enjoy it with my boys, They were just old enough to understand Santa and realise all of the toys were for them. It was so much fun to watch and see how excited they were to rip open each gift. I can’t wait for this Christmas.
What song do you wish was yours?
Chain Of Fools
Have you ever met a fan with a Britney tattoo? If so, what was your reaction?
One of my biggest fans, who has been to every single show has a whole bunch of tattoos of my songs tattooed on him. I think its sweet but I was a little shocked. I don’t know why someone would want a tattoo that would represent me.
Whats the first thing you do when you check into a hotel?
First thing I do when I get into a new hotel is look at how the room is decorated – I love that they are all so different – then I unpack all of my clothes.

Britney Spears becomes the first artist in over three years to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, to be released tomorrow (Oct. 15), as “3″ opens at the pinnacle of the chart. Her new track, a racy paean to the joys of three-way sex from the upcoming hits set “The Singles Collection,” due Nov. 24, shifts 255,000 downloads in its first week of release, also propelling it to No. 1 on Digital Songs. The title also jumps 38-25 on the Pop Songs chart and debuts at No. 49 on Radio Songs/Hot 100 Airplay, which ranks songs based on airplay audience on all radio formats.
“3″ is the first title to debut at No. 1 since Taylor Hicks’ “American Idol” victory song “Do I Make You Proud” did so on the chart dated July 1, 2006. In fact, the last four songs to open at No. 1 were all “American Idol”-related. Prior to Hicks, Carrie Underwood’s “Inside Your Heaven” (July 2, 2005), “I Believe” by Fantasia (July 10, 2004) and Clay Aiken’s “This Is The Night” each debuted at No. 1. The last non-”Idol” song to open at No. 1 was Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” on Nov. 14, 1998. “3″ is Spears’ third Hot 100 No. 1. Her debut single “…Baby One More Time” spent two weeks at No. 1 in 1999 and “Womanizer” spent a sole frame at the top, exactly one year ago this week, on the chart dated Oct. 25, 2008.

Wow, even though I think Britney’s had songs that have been more deserving of the top spot (cough, Gimme More, Piece Of Me), I’m so pleased that she’s scored her third #1 single!!!

What was the craziest thing to happen to Britney Spears last week?
She went to Target. Twice. She bought a CD. That was it. Sounds pretty boring for an international pop icon, but it’s a great relief to those working to keep Britney Inc. in business.
For much of 2007 and 2008, Spears was an unhinged superstar unraveling daily in front of a captivated global audience and voracious media scrum. There were hours of aimless driving, underwear-free outings with Paris Hilton, a bizarre romance with a paparazzo, an involuntary psychiatric hold. But after more than a year of belching putrid black smoke, the Britney machine is humming along quite nicely, thank you, and these days it’s about the music, not the antics. Did she really shave her head or was that just a bad dream?
“For me, the silence is golden,” a Spears insider tells TIME. Her latest single, “3,” hit airwaves on Sept. 29 to tremendous buzz (Rolling Stone called it a “surefire dance-floor stomper”), and will be part of her upcoming box set The Singles Collection, due out Nov. 24, which commemorates her 10 years in the record industry. Other milestones have passed quietly. The pop star just completed the European and U.S. legs of a grueling concert tour with a performance in Las Vegas, the same spot where two years ago she crashed and burned at the MTV Video Music Awards. After a brief rest, she will tour Australia in November.
So the only Spears circus that folks are seeing these days is onstage at sold-out auditoriums. “The good news is, she’s been able to re-create herself and finish the U.S. tour,” says the insider. “While people in Hollywood love seeing a downfall, they are all about seeing people pull themselves together. And it seems, for now, Britney’s doing it.”
Her rebirth is no surprise to Joseph Kahn, who directed Spears in her greatest video triumphs over the years (including “Toxic” and “Stronger”). He knew there had been projects that just plain fell through during what he calls “the blackout period,” but still, Kahn jumped at the chance to direct the singer in her comeback video “Womanizer” in late 2008.
“It was a big question for me to find out if she could actually accomplish this,” Kahn tells TIME. “I didn’t know which Britney was going to show up because of how crazy the previous year had been.” His worries were quickly erased. “There she was on set, watching the choreographer, bobbing her head to the music. Baby steps. She was getting her head back into it.” He says Spears was noticeably “quieter” on set and worked on a tightly structured schedule. “This wasn’t your typical 30-hour video workday,” says Kahn. “They gave me eight hours a day for two days. She was getting her legs back.”
The force behind the structure: Britney’s controversial father Jamie Spears, who has served as her court-appointed conservator since her emotional breakdown in early 2008, assuming near total control over her business and personal life. His continuation of that role has been key for insuring her tour and maintaining the custody agreement with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Proponents of this agreement believe it has helped Britney stay on track. “The reason for the miracle comeback, the reason she has not been in the news, is so due to Jamie,” says the source. “He had a bad rap in the past. I don’t know how much of the show he’s running, but he’s making sure she stays out of trouble. He was the only one capable of doing that in her life.”
The strong arm of the conservatorship is felt in everything from Spears’ curtailed spending to the weeding out of people who are considered bad influences. Even her downtime on the tour was carefully choreographed. When Spears’ tour bus pulled into Pittsburgh, Pa., in March, the manager of the local Mad Mex restaurant didn’t think twice about Spears’ advance team’s request: no flash photography, and her tables were not to be offered Red Bull or alcohol. Hard to argue with the results: a low-key meal devoid of drama. The most exciting thing the manager had to say was that Spears really liked the guac.
The conservatorship has its critics. Onetime Spears confidant Sam Lutfi, who is appealing a long-standing restraining order brought by Jamie Spears to keep him away from Britney, insists that he knows the pop star “is desperate to end the conservatorship.” His take on the current scenario: “She’s not entitled to her freedom yet able to make hundreds of millions of dollars for them by performing a world tour.” And former Britney BFF Alli Sims believes the Spears machine doesn’t stop the drama from happening but is simply more effective in squelching the tabloid stories. “She has so many people controlling her every move, so who knows what’s real and what’s not?” Sims tells TIME in an e-mail. “The people around her are keeping the stories out. I hope and pray she is at a good place.”
The Spears insider says the pop star can “resent” the controls and that it gets worse when she’s not touring, like now. “If you are on summer vacation, you are going to resent your parents,” says the source, who hopes that we’ve seen “the end of the bad parts of this amazing story.”
But if another bad part does unfold, it’s a safe bet the pent-up media will not leave Spears alone. “There are countless journalists bemoaning the fact that Britney is so well behaved these days,” says Steve Dennis, author of the new biography Britney Spears: Inside the Dream. That said, he adds, if she can hold it together, Spears will have achieved her greatest success. “If this redemption has some longevity to it, then it will be one of show business’s all- time comebacks,” Dennis says. “She was staring into the abyss. But right now she’s showing the world” — to paraphrase her hit song “Gimme More” — “Britney’s back, bitch.”

It’s been an incredible success story for pop princess Britney Spears. Back on March 3 in New Orleans, she kicked off her Circus Tour, and now after stops through Europe and Canada, she ends its run right here in Las Vegas tomorrow night.
It’s a remarkable comeback for the 27-year-old singer who was written off by the tabloids and their lurid headlines after her emotional breakdown and collapse. Circus ends its run as Britney gets ready for her Hollywood Walk of Fame star, and in the past few days, Britney was hailed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest female artist to have five of her albums reach No. 1 on the Billboard music charts. Her tour has been a massive revenue winner, selling millions of tickets for sold-out performances and well over half a million Circus albums!
Britney landed in the No. 6 slot of Top Concert Event rankings ahead of Miley Cyrus and Kenny Chesney and behind Jonas Brothers and AC/DC. In Britain, six Circus shows were added to her run at the 02 Arena after 100,000 tickets were sold the first weekend for her original eight performances! Britney Spears: Circus Tour Britney is now celebrating a decade of once again being at the top of the charts, and her new single “3” will be released to radio stations on Tuesday, with a collection of her 10 Years of Hits to be released in November.
There were wild rumors circulating in Las Vegas this week that she would be shooting the “3” video here this weekend between her two nights of shows starting this evening at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
“Totally untrue,” said her manager Larry Rudolph when I reached him late yesterday en route here from San Diego. “It will be filmed in about four weeks’ time in Los Angeles.”
Larry also cleared up the mystery of “invitations” that suggested Britney would be filming an ABC special on Tuesday here in Vegas. “We tracked that one down,” he told me. “Somebody started it as a joke. Then it became a rumor. Somebody then sent out fake invitations to attend the taping, and suddenly it all became solid fact. There is no TV special taping while we are in Las Vegas. Please print that and end the rumors.”
Larry reinforced that Britney’s visit to Las Vegas tonight and tomorrow is the last time we’ll get to see Britney in concert for quite a while. He didn’t know if the Australian tour would go ahead this November or be delayed for a few years.
Britney’s return this weekend is an encore of her visit here last April when the Pussycat Dolls were her guest opening act.
Circus is the largest pop concert tour of all time. It cost $50 million to stage, with $10 million just for construction of the massive three stages that make up the Big Top performing areas. It has taken 32 semis to haul the equipment throughout the country at a cost of $6 million per week in transportation alone.

Not quite sure what they mean about postponing the Australian dates, but it looks like they just took something Larry said out of context.

Britney Spears won the MTV Video Music Award for best pop video Sunday night for her song “Womanizer.”
The singer was unable to accept the prize in person, however, because she is touring.
“This is so freaking cool!” Spears, surrounded by backup dancers, said via satellite on the VMA broadcast. “Thank you so much. We’re so sorry we couldn’t be there tonight. I’m on tour, as you can see, but this means so much to me. And thank you. Thank you, thank you!”
Her dancers then cheered for her and chanted, “Go, Britney!”
Spears’s lackluster performance at the 2007 VMA show, which occurred at a low point in the singer’s personal life, was widely ridiculed.
However, she appeared in a comedic segment at last year’s VMA presentation and has since enjoyed a successful comeback concert tour.
Earlier Sunday night, Green Day won the VMA for best rock video for its clip “21 Guns.”

In a new promo for MTV’s Video Music Awards, set for Sept. 13 in New York City, Britney Spears wishes for a personal invite from Russell Brand, who is hosting for the second year in a row.
Standing by a pool in a white bikini and a black sun hat, Spears says in a voiceover, “I wonder if he’ll invite me. I mean, I can obviously get an invite, but it would be nice for Russell to invite me personally now that we’re friends and all.”
Meanwhile, Brand has VMA jitters of his own. “I hope I didn’t balls it up with her last time,” he says. “Some of those things I said could have been construed as offensive. I hope she don’t think ill of me.”
Back to Spears, this time biting her fingernail: “Should I have played it up more when he was flirting with me last year? I have to admit there is something sexy about his dangerous ways.”
At the end of the spot, Brand realizes he’s hearing Spears’s voiceover and that she might be hearing his. What’s a bloke to do? “Britney,” he says in a high-pitched voice, “this is the voice of your mind … go to Russell’s hotel room and abandon yourself. Give yourself to him, Britney. Sleep with Russell!”
The VMAs air live on Sept. 13 (9 p.m. EST) on MTV.

What would a President Spears administration be like? Apparently, very tasty.
Britney Spears appeared on David Letterman’s “Late Show” on Tuesday to deliver a Top Ten list of ways the country would be different if she were president.
“Free pie for everybody,” Spears declared.
For No. 10 on the list, Spears said she’d be “the first president since Nixon to wear eye shadow.”
The pop star appeared eager to show off her buff new body. She delivered the list in a bikini.
Spears also joked that her situation room would be a cabana at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, and she’d challenge the U.S. to put a nightclub on the moon within a decade.
Her top reason?
“Finally,” she said, “the media would pay some attention to me.”
