Britney Spears won the MTV Video Music Award for best pop video Sunday night for her song “Womanizer.”

The singer was unable to accept the prize in person, however, because she is touring.

“This is so freaking cool!” Spears, surrounded by backup dancers, said via satellite on the VMA broadcast. “Thank you so much. We’re so sorry we couldn’t be there tonight. I’m on tour, as you can see, but this means so much to me. And thank you. Thank you, thank you!”

Her dancers then cheered for her and chanted, “Go, Britney!”

Spears’s lackluster performance at the 2007 VMA show, which occurred at a low point in the singer’s personal life, was widely ridiculed.

However, she appeared in a comedic segment at last year’s VMA presentation and has since enjoyed a successful comeback concert tour.

Earlier Sunday night, Green Day won the VMA for best rock video for its clip “21 Guns.”

Just days after Britney Spears finishes the North American leg of her hugely successful tour to promote her Circus album, the pop superstar has announced what she plans to release as the next single.

According to a post on BritneySpears.com, the song “Radar” is going to be the fourth single from Circus. No official release date for the single was given.

“Radar,” which is listed as a “bonus track” on Circus, follows on the heels of three consecutive hits for Brit-Brit. “Womanizer” topped the Billboard Hot 100 — and sparked a few million remix versions. The album’s title track made it to #3 on the same chart. And the most recent single, “If U Seek Amy,” isn’t just burning up the radio, it’s also caused quite a bit of controversy around the world for its suggestive title.

NOTE:  The cover I posted above is the cover from last year.  The song was originally going to be released last June.

Britney’s manager, Adam Leber, has hinted on his official Twitter account that some new material may be on the way!

Here’s what he said:

If you could choose one producer for Britney to collaborate with, who would it be? – Adam Leber

Exciting.  Although, I’d prefer her to just re-release Circus after the tour, then have a bit of a break before starting to record a new album.

The official “If U Seek Amy” music video will be available for purchase next Tuesday, March 17, on iTunes, but for now, continue to keep your video comments comin’ — I love hearing what you guys have to say! Look out for an official video review early next week by our featured VIP guest blogger, Trent Vanegas from Pink Is The New Blog.

In other tour news, I hear Brit was awesome the other night in New York… and that Madonna was there to watch the whole thing! Note to Brit: Good luck tonight girl, and I’ll be seeing ya at tomorrow’s NJ show.

For now, be sure to stream the video here, as it counts towards the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Unfortunately, it looks like they will be using the “censored” version for the US market. Ridiculous.

Britney’s new single “Circus” has been officially released in the United Kingdom today.

The song is now available to buy in both physical and digital formats, where available. It was a nightmare trying to find the CD today, even in big cities such as Manchester. I eventually found it in a tiny section in HMV.

If you don’t live by a store which sells physical singles anymore, you can buy it online here.

Britney Spears is a mega pop star, a mom of two – and now a happy homemaker in her new video, sources tell PEOPLE.

The singer, who plans to hit the road for her Circus tour next month, spent Tuesday filming the video for her upcoming single “If U Seek Amy,” in which she plays a sexy housewife dressed in blonde ’50s style wig, fitted pink top and white skirt.

“The video begins with Britney coming outside her house to hand the paparazzi an apple pie that she baked,” says a source. “She acts like she wants to hook up. The video is very provocative.”

In part of the video, Spears is accompanied by two adorable perfectly-groomed children and a straight-laced man wearing khakis and a sweater over his shoulders. But a source says there are also lots of dancers “dressed in skimpy outfits in metallic color” and revealing costumes for Spears included in the shoot.

According to several sources, Spears was very professional and upbeat on the set. “She was like the old Britney at the shoot. She was engaged and excited the whole day and seemed like her old self,” says a source.

“If U Seek Amy” is the third single from the album Circus. Spears kicks off her new tour in New Orleans on March 3.

The album passed the 1,000,000 sales mark a few weeks ago, but the certification has only just been confirmed.  Worldwide sales of the disc are currently around the 2,500,000 mark!

Congrats, Brit!

seekmeNew York’s top radio station, Z100, is dying to play Britney Spears’ newest single, “If U Seek Amy.”

But first her label is going to wash the song out with soap.

“We plan to play an edited, super-clean version,” says Tom Poleman, senior vice president of programming for Clear Channel, parent of WHTZ (100.3 FM). “We’re just waiting for a good edit.”

“Amy,” the third single from Spears’ hit comeback CD “Circus,” has kicked up a firestorm over the title phrase, which when spoken rapidly spells out a crude sexual phrase.

While popular music has a long history of double entendre, this is more like a single entendre, since the phrase in the song seems to have no other meaning.

Jive Records, Spears’ label, has promised a re-edited version of the song that cleans up the offending line, said Sharon Dastur, Z100 program director.

“The record label will be providing the edit,” said Dastur. “They’ve been letting us preview some potential options to make sure it’s appropriate.

“Last I heard, they were going to have Britney go back into the studio to re-record some tracks for it.”

The song caused some buzz when “Circus” was released, but it remained limited while two other songs were promoted as singles on the radio.

The controversy rekindled when the watchdog Parents Television Council (PTC) threatened to file indecency complaints with the Federal Communications Commission against any station that played “Amy.”

Clear Channel, which laid off 9% of its workforce this week, is hardly in the mood to finance an FCC fight right now.

Clear Channel CEO John Hogan also pledged before Congress several years ago, in the wake of the Janet Jackson scandal, to institute a “zero tolerance” policy on broadcast indecency.

Neither Spears’ camp nor Jive has issued any public comment. But record companies are rarely unhappy about anything that draws attention to their material, and Spears has thrived for years on sex controversies, personal and professional.

The Jive Web site currently features a video in which Spears gyrates on the bench in a sauna, without the apparent hindrance of clothing.

The annual NRJ music awards were held last night in France and Britney won two awards, Best Video Clip for “Womanizer” and International Female Artist of the Year.

Rumours have been swirling during the past few weeks that Britney would attend, and yesterday a rumour surfaced that Britney had recorded a video acceptance speech.  Unfortunately, neither rumour were true!
