The godfather of disco announces new collaborations and releases a single

Giorgio Moroder, widely considered a pioneer of disco, has announced a new album due out next spring — one that makes it clear he’s not threatened by pop upstarts.

Moroder’s album, his first solo effort in over 30 years, is to feature collaborations with Britney Spears, Sia, Charli XCX, Kylie Minogue, and others. Moroder is no stranger to collaboration with younger artists, having recently been featured on Daft Punk’s Grammy-winning album Random Access Memories.

Before the Daft Punk appearance, Moroder may have been best known for his work on songs including Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” and film scores including Scarface and Top Gun. Presumably Britney and her cohort will help introduce the artist to a new generation of fans, not that it seems Moroder’s too worried: His first single, the title track from the album, is bluntly titled “74 Is the New 24.” In a press release, the indefatigable producer said: “Dance music doesn’t care where you live. It doesn’t care who your friends are. It doesn’t care how much money you make. It doesn’t care if your 74 or if you are 24 because… 74 is the new 24!”

Britney is dating Charlie Ebersol

Britney Spears has a new man in her life!

E! News can confirm that the 32-year-old pop star is dating producer and writer Charlie Ebersol, the son of veteran TV producer and executive Dick Ebersol. The hot new couple have been seeing each other for a few weeks.

“They met through friends,” a source tells E! News of Spears and Ebersol. “He is the sweetest guy ever and they are very much enjoying getting to know one another. They are both very happy and having fun. It’s just the beginning so no idea if it will become serious but right now they are having a lot of fun together.”

Spears’ new romance comes just over two months after her breakup from boyfriend David Lucado. The singer and Lucado began dating in early 2013.

Prior to that, Spears was engaged to ex Jason Trawick for more than a year. The duo broke off their engagement in January 2013. “Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement,” Spears said in a statement at the time. “I’ll always adore him and we will remain great friends.”

Trawick added, “As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys [Sean Preston and Jayden] and we will be close forever.”

As for Ebersol, who has previously been romantically linked to Maria Sharapova and Sophia Bush, one of his most recent accomplishments was his 2013 TV series The Moment, which helped men and women get a second chance on their career dreams. The Moment was a special project for Ebersol, who got a second chance on life after a 2004 plane crash that killed his younger brother Teddy and left him and his father with severe injuries.

Back in April 2013, Ebersol opened up about the terrifying event, telling the Today show, “When the plane crashed, I was so angry. I wasn’t scared or sad…I was going to lose out on the opportunity to do all these things I loved that I wasn’t doing.”
