BRITannica from Britney.com writes:

Y’all have been bombarding me with questions about Britney’s mysterious seventh studio album… but I don’t really blame you. I CAN’T WAIT EITHER! Rest assured that an album IS in the process of being recorded, and it’s going to be sick. But a release date has not been confirmed or officially announced. As I always say, if it’s not on Britney.com or BritneySpears.com, take it with a grain of salt.  I’ll give you new music details as soon as I can.

I guess we all already knew she was recording an album from the trips to the recording studio, but it’s always good to have official confirmation.

I’d also like to add to BRITannica’s post: “If it’s not on Britney.com, BritneySpears.com or BritneySpy.com, take it with a grain of salt.” ;-)

Britney’s official site, BritneySpears.com, has rubbished reports that the new album will be released in June this year.

The rumour, whose original source was MTV Buzzworthy, has been added to the site’s BS! Alert section.

If Brit-Brit’s too-brief appearance at the Grammys wasn’t enough to whet your “Toxic” appetite, then get ready to chow down on some new music from Spears this June.

For all those Circus freaks out there, you’ll be stoked to hear that Britney is re-teaming with K. Briscoe, part of The Outsyders production team, who penned Spears’ comeback hit “Womanizer.” Plus, our pop princess is also hooking back up with Corte Ellis from Soul Diggaz, who previously worked with Britney on the songs “Naked” and “Get Back” off Blackout.

Finally, color us flattered that Spears took our advice and decided to collaborate with our fave new French hitmaker DJ David Guetta on new tunes. Ooh, la la!

Briscoe, Ellis and Guetta join a heap of producers who have already been tapped for the project—like Danja, Max Martin, Darkchild, Sean Garrett. Guess it’s just a matter of time until we hear whose tracks make the final album cut. Hope we don’t blackout from anticipation! (Get it? Blackout? Blackout? I’ll be here all night, folks.)

Source: MTV Buzzworthy

Notice the source: Buzzworthy is a section of MTV that rehashes rumours, it’s not an official source like ‘regular’ MTV.  We previously found through an internal post on SonyBMG’s website that the new album was slated for a May 2010 release.

That being said, I’m still not convinced we’ll get anything new before the third quarter of the year.

Britney Spears Candies NewBritney Spears, as seen through the eyes of Annie Leibovitz, Terry Richardson and Mark Seliger, is back this season for Candie’s Only at Kohl’s.

Late last year, the pop star was shot separately by all three photographers on the same day, at the Paramount Studios lot in Hollywood. Each photographer was assigned a separate soundstage and Spears’ first shots of the day came on Richardson’s plain white set. Surprisingly, the two had never met, so they spent the first 10 minutes snapping photos together. Richardson brought a menagerie of animals for Spears to pose with, including a donkey and chickens, but the final shot is of the pop star holding a huge stuffed teddy bear above her head.

Next, Spears visited Leibovitz for what looked at first to be one of her signature portrait sittings. But Spears said she wanted to play around and Leibovitz was game. “It’s a different feeling for an Annie portrait,” said Dari Marder, chief marketing officer of Iconix Brand Group Inc., which owns Candie’s.

Spears ended the day with Seliger, on the most elaborate set of the three, which Marder described as being inspired by “Moulin Rouge.”

Marder said Spears continues to resonate with the “Candie’s girl,” and so the brand is changing its usual strategy of introducing a new spokesmodel each year. Past campaigns have featured Fergie, Hilary Duff and Jenny McCarthy. “It’s hard to pinpoint whether the sales are from marketing or pricing but it was one of our best years,” Marder noted of 2009.

The ads with Spears will launch with a four-page insert in the April issue of Seventeen and a one-page ad in Teen Vogue. On the Web, the images will run on candies.com and on the social networking sites that Spears uses, such as her Facebook and Twitter pages.

Marder declined to reveal the cost of the campaign, but hiring Leibovitz, Seliger and Richardson comes at a high price. “We really had to give up control and let them all do their thing,” Marder added.

She also hinted that more is to come in the second half with Spears but, unlike last year, it won’t be related to a concert tour.

Unfortunately Britney lost out in the category in which she was nominated, Best Dance Recording at the Grammy Awards last night.  Lady GaGa took home the award for “Poker Face” instead.

Still, Britney attended and looked radiant.

Madonna and Britney’s snog at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2003 has been voted the best famous kiss of the last decade.

The smooch, which took place during a performance of Madonna’s ‘Like A Virgin’ at the ceremony, came first in the poll conducted by UK department store Selfridges.

The performance also saw Madonna kiss Christina Aguilera.

“Madonna performing with both Britney and Christina was a big enough event in itself, but nobody – even the MTV people – expected what happened. It is one of the most memorable moments ever,” a source said.

Having just flown into town the previous evening, Britney Spears was hard at work in Miami, Florida on Friday afternoon (January 29).

Wearing a pretty pink sweater while joined by her trusty security staffer, the “Womanizer” singer made her way to a recording studio to work on new material.

As previously reported by Gossip Center, Britney recently joined Lady GaGa, Kate Bosworth and a slew of other celebs in donating to the Haiti relief efforts.

Miss Spears announced that she’s auctioning off her silver Versace gown from the MTV Video Music Awards in 2008 – with all proceeds heading straight to charity.

An upbeat Britney Spears appeared in court Friday with her father for a closed-door hearing in her ongoing conservatorship case.

The singer, 28, wore a gray jacket and black skirt with her hair dark brown and long with a few blonde streaks. She entered the courtroom at 1:45 p.m. from the judge’s hallway door following her father, Jamie.

Spears smiled as she stood at the attorney table next to her court-appointed lawyer Samuel Ingham. After Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz took the stand, Spears’s conservator lawyers requested to seal the courtroom because the hearing involved personal medical information.

The judge granted the request and ordered reporters and other audience members to leave.

It’s been nearly two years since the pop star’s father gained legal control over her affairs following her mental breakdown, and experts say it’s normal procedure for the judge to want to check in with her.

Experts add that Spears won’t regain control of her own life until she proves to the court – backed by doctors’ opinions – that she’s able to manage her own affairs.
