“Break The Ice” enters the official UK top 40 singles chart at #36 this week, based on download sales alone. The physical CD single is still set for release on April 14th.
“Piece Of Me” is still hanging on, it’s at #31 this week.
In the album chart, “Blackout” has risen a few places to #53.
Hip-hop star Fabolous is helping Britney Spears get her pop career back on track – he’s recorded a song for her forthcoming album. The Trade It All rapper was recently called into the studio to record his part of the song, but admits he was a little disappointed when he found out Spears wasn’t going to be attending the session herself.
He tells MTV.com, “I didn’t get to kick it with (Spears), but the people from her record label was on top of that…”
And after all her personal troubles at the start of 2008, Fabolous hopes she will soon be back to her best: “I don’t know what condition Britney is in right now. Hopefully – more power to her – she’ll get in a better space and position. Somebody needs to sit her down, let her know what the deal is.”
Spears has since returned to work for the first time since her mental breakdowns in January – on Monday she was spotted at Hollywood’s Alleycat Recording Studio, the same day her cameo appearance on How I Met Your Mother aired on CBS to glowing reviews.

He recently recorded vocals for a remix of “Break The Ice”, but Britney was recording yesterday too… so who knows what this is all for! It’s exciting though…
A guest appearance by Britney Spears on Monday gave the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” its highest rating ever.
“Mother” spiked to a series high 4.5 preliminary rating among adults 18-49, even as the rest of the CBS comedy lineup fell from last week’s record-setting return to original episodes.
Critics were relatively impressed. “Britney the Trainwreck showed how she can still be Britney the Performer,” wrote the Associated Press. “Spears proved she can act every bit as well as she can sing,” wrote the New York Daily News. “Brit looked slim, (OK she was behind a desk), trim and gorgeous,” wrote the New York Post.
The second week of strong “Mother” ratings (10.6 million, 4.5/12) assures the one-time bubble comedy will be renewed for the fall. “Mother” was the fourth-highest-rated show of the evening, and CBS won the night (averaging 12.5 million, 4.4/11).

Britney Spears celebrated her big TV comeback Monday night with a dinner date with her bodyguard and a female friend in Beverly Hills.
Throughout her meal at Italian restaurant Dominick’s, Spears, 26 — who did not drink — spoke in her British accent, a fellow diner tells Usmagazine.com.
“She looked so good, completely normal,” the eyewitness adds. “She was smiling and laughing in the loud obnoxious Britney laugh.”
The singer had a good reason to rejoice: Her cameo on CBS’ Hot I Met Your Mother won over the critics.
“She looked beautiful and had screen presence,” Charna Halpern, artistic director of Chicago’s Improv Olympic Comedy Club, tells Us. “Even when she was behind the desk and they made her look kind of homely, she was adorable.”

Britney Spears‘ sitcom comeback Monday night was met with warm reception by critics.
“She did pretty good” playing a dorky receptionist who falls for Ted (Josh Radnor) on CBS’ Hot I Met Your Mother, Charna Halpern, artistic director of Chicago’s Improv Olympic Comedy Club, tells Usmagazine.com. “There was a sweetness to her, a vulnerability.
“She looked beautiful and had screen presence,” adds Halpern, who has trained such comedians as Tina Fey. “Even when she was behind the desk and they made her look kind of homely, she was adorable.”
Her comedic timing “was good at some parts, especially in some of her reactions,” Dean Cudworth, director of the Idol Camp, tells Us.
Cudworth said the scene where she handed Ted an embarrassing self-help book he had left in the lobby “really worked because she was relaxed,” Cudworth said. “She was listening to the other characters and played off their performances with ease.”
Her role was “over the top, and she certainly went for it,” Aliza Shane, senior director of NYC’s Looking Glass Theater, tells Us. “Clearly, she likes being on camera, no one can argue that!”

Britney was spotted at Alley Cat studios yesterday, although there’s a bit of debate over what type of studio it is. The majority are reporting that it’s a recording studio, while a couple of outlets are claiming it’s a dance studio.
Oh well, whichever it is, at least she’s working again!
Britney’s latest single “Break The Ice” has already been in heavy rotation on UK music channels and radio stations since last week. The video continues to climb up the airplay charts on many channels.
The CD single will be available to buy on April 14th. It will apparently only consist of a 2-track CD (again). Nice to see Jive Records making such an effort…
