“Blackout” Wins Its First Notable Award

 POSTED BY Danny

“Blackout” won Best International Album tonight at the NRJ Awards in France!

The disc beat out stiff competition from other international stars’ albums such as Amy Whinehouse’s “Back To Black” and Rihanna’s “Good Girl Gone Bad”.

Good 4 her. She didn’t do n-e thing to deserve it though, but wuteva. I loved the album. She needs 2 get her life organized b4 she gets any awards or even puts out another album. I just read everywhere, but it has not been confirmed yet that they wont even let her attend the GRAMMY’S. She needs 2 get herself major help and keep out of the public eye for awhile…

Yea she did nothing to deserve this except you know make the album. Well now that the sarcasm is out of the way. Good for her. She deserves to win awards for this album cause it’s a great album. One of her best. I’m glad some people see that. Maybe she will here about this and it will put her in a good mood. To bad it didn’t sell as well as it should have due to mainstream fans having media and pop culture decide what to buy for them. But whatever. As for the Grammy thing I personally think she should avoid anything career related for a while. It’s added stress plus she has way more important shit to think about. Her career should be the last thing on her mind at the moment.

She’s only sold 1,452,000 worldwide. Dats way, way, way less then here usual status. It hasn’t even gone platinum down here in da U.S yet. She has totally lost it. I hope she can back back 4 dis, but until she gets da help she obviously needs I don’t see dat happenin n-e time soon….

mihai on Sunday, January 27, 2008 @ 1:18 am

ben on Sunday, January 27, 2008 @ 2:00 am

It sure as hell dat it hasn’t reached 2 million. But if it sold more than dat worldwide please I wanna kno how much if i’m not correct… (y don’t u tell me)but I kno 4 a fact it hasn’t gone platinum in da U.S. yet

***MIMI*** on Sunday, January 27, 2008 @ 2:07 am

Mimi,

What do you mean by “here in da U.S.”??? Judging by your grammar, there is no possible way you can be from a country where the primary language is English!

And I believe she did plenty to deserve it… The girl made the best damn album of her career.

When you make $9 million a year, you can pass judgement. Until then, shut your ignorant trap.

Congrats, Brit, on the first of many awards this album is going to win!

Keith on Sunday, January 27, 2008 @ 4:11 am

Actually, it hasn’t gone platinum in the U.S. yet. Its only sold just above 700,000 copies, which is good, but not near as good as her old albums have sold. I do predict it will be certified platinum within the next couple of months, though. Also, be sure to vote for Blackout for best international album (a different award) here:

She’s a close second to Avril Lavigne’s “The Best Damn Thing”!

Edit:
According to Wikipedia, Blackout won 3 awards so far, including Billboard Readers’ Choice Album of the Year, 2008 NRJ Music Awards Best International Album, and 2008 Apelzin Awards Best Pop Artist. Also according to the site, Blackout has sold 1,452,000 worldwide as of last week, 708,576 being in the U.S. I think it needs 1 million albums sold in the U.S. to be certified platinum, so its getting there. It has been so far certified gold in the U.K. and Belgium, and platinum in Canada and Australia. Considering the circumstances (almost no promotion), its doing quite well.

Conrats honey, u and “Blackout” def. deserve this award, cuz it def. is ur best album of ur career. I so hope u win more awards, cuz u deserve it and so does the album. and ur right Clifton she def. has more important shit to deaal with then her career, her career is def. the last thing she should be worryin about right now.
