Lawyers faced off again this morning in the seemingly neverending custody war between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline. However, after several hours of closed-door chatting with the judge, it appears it was all for nothing.
When asked by OK! if there had been any developments in today’s session, Britney’s lawyer Sorrell Trope revealed, “nothing… only a continuance.” So apparently all the huffing and puffing in the judge’s chamber was just to move the scheduled Jan. 23 hearing a few weeks later to Feb. 19. K-Fed’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, tells OK! that the extra time is to allow him more time for discovery, which means more time to depose witnesses in the case.
Following today’s hearing, Kaplan spoke to OK!, confirming that the court has re-affirmed its order for Britney to be deposed, though he declined to comment on a date.
Last week, the troubled pop star, claiming illness and “anxiety,” skipped out on a court-ordered depo at Kaplan’s office. “It’s not like it’s the fourth grade, where you get a doctor’s note and it’s all okay,” Kaplan said afterward.
