Today is the last day that downloads of “Gimme More” will count towards this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart.  If you have already bought it on iTunes, you can download it from some other stores where downloads count towards the chart.  Don’t keep downloading the song multiple times with the same account, it won’t count and is just a waste of your money.

Britney’s latest single “Gimme More” has entered the ARIA digital download chart at #6. The song is still at #1 on iTunes in Australia, but I take it the #6 ranking is a culmination of all the different download sites.

The song probably won’t make the singles chart until the physical single is released. The CD release date is still set for next Saturday, October 6th, even though we don’t even have a video yet!

The album is out in less than six weeks and we still don’t have an official title or cover! So far the two rumoured titles are ‘Piece Of Me‘, ‘Blackout‘ and ‘It’s Britney, Bitch‘.

Which of these would you prefer? Or make up your own title in the comments section and explain why you think it would be good.

SonyBMG UK have sent out a promo CD of Britney’s latest international hit “Gimme More” to UK radio.  The song is now available to request on all major UK stations such as BBC Radio 1, Capital FM, Galaxy and more.

“Gimme More” has currently stalled at #17 on the Mediabase US pop airplay chart.

The song is #1 on iTunes but if Britney stands any chance of getting to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 we need to get her a higher airplay ranking first.

If you live in the US (or outside the US for that matter), don’t forget to keep requesting for the song. You can email your local radio stations but it’s better to call them, apparently some fans have been mass-requesting the song via email and the radio DJs don’t take kindly to it.

HER disastrous performance at the MTV awards threatened to destroy her much-hyped return.

But I’m the first journalist in the world to hear her new album and I can tell you — BRITNEY’s back, bitch!

After firing her manager, publicist and assistant, the singer is effectively pushing this album out on to the world stage on her own.

And after my one-off preview, I can see why she has the confidence to go it alone — it’s hot!

You’ve probably already heard the single, Gimme More — which opens with the explosive line “It’s Britney, bitch”.

The track, which has been kicking around on the net for a while, failed to set the MTV stage alight thanks to her dodgy lip synching and dancing.

But I reckon the rest of the album, as yet un-named, more than justifies the hype.

Britney is at her thumping best, with heavy-duty electro pop blending brilliantly with her distinctive vocals.

The stand-out track is Piece Of Me — a personal rant about how the whole world wants something from her.

It opens with the line: “I’m Mrs American Dream, since 17, they want a piece of me.”

The chorus really hits home with a message about the crazy publicity circus surrounding the fallen pop princess.

She sings: “I’m successful, rich and famous, I’m Mrs Oh My God I’m Britney Shameless,

“I’m Mrs Extra, Extra, This Just In, I’m Mrs She’s Too Big, She’s Too Thin.”

It is punctuated throughout with the line “You want a piece of me” — summing up how she feels about the state of her life.This is Britney hitting back at her critics — the media, the music industry, her estranged parents and the fans who turned on her.

But there is also a love song — albeit with a beat-crunching dance vibe — called Heaven On Earth, which sounds like it is about her ex-hubby KEVIN FEDERLINE. It’s clear from the lyrics that she still loves him.

She sings: “There’s nothing I can do, I’m really crazy about you, when you’re next to me it’s just like Heaven on Earth.”

It continues: “I’d move across the world for you, just tell me when, where, I’ll come to you.”

Other stand-out tracks include Break The Ice and Radar.

They were produced by the likes of BLOODSHY & AVANT and TIMBALAND-protege DANJA, so as you’d expect, all the songs are edgy, with gut-busting beats.

Due to Brit’s chaotic lifestyle the album doesn’t have a name, the artwork isn’t finished and no one at her record label, Jive, is sure whether she will do anything to promote it.

Gimme More is out on November 5, but the release date for the album — November 12 — could change.

All the same, I reckon Britney can’t fail to convince the world she’s back, bitch. Got it!

Britney attended an Addiction Cosmetics party last night in Orange County. She stayed looked on at the catwalk but didn’t stay for the afterparty, deciding to drive home early. Britney looked amazing in a white dress with skull and crossbone belt with boots.

Britney Spears is getting a music makeover from Beyonce’s mentor. On Thursday, I heard some new tracks from Britney’s forthcoming still untitled album, and I can tell you: They’re not bad.

Jive Records, distributed by SonyBMG, will release the album on Nov. 13 despite Spears’ recent troubles. It will go head-to-head with another BMG release, Alicia Keys’ “As I Am.” I’ve heard several tracks from that album, too.

While Keys’ album is certainly more important artistically, Spears’ has a lot more riding on it —like, her career.

The trick will be how to promote Spears’ CD. So far, my sources say Jive is just going to put the CD out and not depend on Britney for publicity. They’re not going to let another debacle like Spears’ MTV Video Music Awards performance happen again. No sir, no way.

Britney’s fans — and by the numbers she generates with this column she must have a lot —already know “Gimme More.” It’s the first single, and probably the lead track, although nothing is set in stone.

This much is known, however. Spears’ guiding light on this project is Jive’s new A&R guru, Dallas-based Theresa LaBarbera Whites. She’s the same women who is credited for discovering Beyonce, Destiny’s Child and Jessica Simpson, and putting their careers on track.

That means that Whites is working with producers and writers to get Britney the right sound for an album’s worth of hits. If the album tanks, which it shouldn’t, Jive and Spears will be in boiling hot water. …

But from the sound of it, Britney’s got a couple of hits ready to go after “Gimme More.” In particular, a track called “Heaven on Earth,” written by a California duo called Freescha, is a smash, I think. It’s a totally original dance track that comprises a distinctive and catchy melody. It sounds fresh and exciting, and it’s eminently hummable.

If Jive can get a video out of Spears for this song, they’ll be in good shape. The song was co-produced, too, by Kara DioGuardi, a 26-year-old one-woman pop music hit factory.

No, it’s not Bob Dylan or Joni Mitchell, but it’s got a beat, and the kids can dance to it.

Another track, “Piece of Me,” is written and produced by a team called Bloodshy and Avant. (Don’t you love these names?)

Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg are the same Swedish music production team that did “Toxic” with Britney in 2004. They tailored “Piece of Me” to be a reaction to Spears’ treatment by the tabloid press and the paparazzi. She gets to sing lines about the photogs “pissing me off” and taking pictures of her derriere.

The song has a clever production — it sounds like Britney’s trapped in a pinball machine — as it rhymes “rich and famous” with “shameless.” The producers even get to chime in vocally, singing “Extra! Extra!”

The two other tracks I heard were more straight-ahead electronic disco. “Radar,” produced again by Bloodshy and Avant with The Clutch this time (an Atlanta hip-hop outfit) has sonar pings and sounds like Las Vegas goes EuroDisco. (Check out The Clutch’s MySpace page; you’ll be pleasantly surprised and wonder why they’re not getting big push.)

“Break the Ice” was produced by Nate “Danja” Hills, protégé to Timbaland and the man behind “Gimme More.”

Add these to some other tracks floating around the internet — “Cold as Fire,” produced by rapper T-Pain, in which Spears uses the F-word — and we have some idea of what to expect on Nov. 13.

Britney’s latest single “Gimme More” is now #1 on the American iTunes!

Keep buying and requesting at radio and let’s get Britney to #1 on Billboard…

“Gimme More” is having more success than anyone ever expected! This is such a smack in the face to certain online bloggers whose names I won’t mention. It’s clear now that everyone still loves Britney and her music no matter what they may say.

The song is at #3 on the US iTunes behind “Crank That” by Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em and “Stronger” by Kanye West. The ringtoneis now at #1!

The song is still at #1 on the Australian and Canadian versions and #2 in New Zealand and France.

Britney decided to play paparazzi yesterday by getting out of her car at a Mexican restaurant and shooting the paparazzi with a camcorder.  She said they were “beautiful”.  She later told Access Hollywood that the food was “great”.

After leaving the restaurant, she headed to a recording studio in Burbank with her latest assistant to put the finishing touches on her highly anticipated new album, which is still scheduled for November 13th.

Britney asked a paparazzo to go into the bathroom with her to help clear a way through all the mass of photographers waiting outside! It’s a hectic scene, but Britney remains in a good mood throughout!

The song has only been available to buy for 24 hours but it’s already at #11 on the American iTunes store!

Sporting dark brown hair and eyeglasses, Britney Spears breezed through some shopping in an upscale Atlanta mall over the weekend.

“Unless you actually spoke to her for a minute, you wouldn’t have recognized her,” Juicy Couture assistant manager Jake Barnaby told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday. Spears, 25, reportedly told Barnaby that she was in Atlanta to escape stress and the paparazzi and to relax.

“She was very well put together and she was really quiet,” Barnaby told the paper. “The people with her were actually causing more commotion. After a while, it was like, ‘Oh, please. You’re nobody. Stop.’ ”

One saleswoman told PEOPLE, “She seemed in good spirits and was very sweet and complimentary to everyone.”

“She was looking for something to wear that night and spent way less than $1,000,” the woman added. “Really, she was just in a rush, trying to get in and out. She was done in about 20 minutes.”

Spears ended up purchasing a purple dog carrier, a brown eyelet bikini from the sale rack and a shirt or two, the saleswoman said.

Before heading to Georgia, Spears was charged Friday with hit-and-run causing property damage and driving without a valid license, said the Los Angeles City Attorney.

“Gimme More” has climbed another place to #17 on the Mediabase US pop airplay chart.  The song is at #47 on the rhythmic airplay chart.

Britney’s new single “Gimme More” has been added to the US iTunes a week early!

The track was added to various international versions of iTunes yesterday and it’s already at #7 in New Zealand and #9 in Australia.

The track will be released on the UK version of the music store in late October (a week before the physical single release).

After a weekend jaunt to Atlanta, Britney Spears has – once again – made up her mind about L.A. “I hate L.A.,” she said while shopping in Hot’lanta, according to Page Six. “I’m so sick of that town.”

Only problem is, of course, that if Britney wants to be with her boys, she’s got to stay in L.A., according to a court order. And speaking of court orders, Britney and K-Fed’s lawyers snuck into court yesterday to “refine certain areas,” reports the AP, of judge Scott Gordon’s drug and alcohol-testing edict. K-Fed’s lawyer said that Spears’ recent misdemeanor hit-and-run charges wouldn’t impact the November hearing in which his client will seek more custody of the kids.

THE bodyguard of tormented Britney Spears today reveals the damning drugs evidence that may cost her her children.

Tony Barretto filed shattering, secret testimony at the hearing over custody of her two boys on Monday.

Here for the FIRST TIME he details his evidence and lays bare the FULL terrifying depths of the star’s addiction and its effects on her children.

His shocking account persuaded a worried judge to order Britney to be tested for drugs TWICE A WEEK. And here Barretto dramatically tells how the tormented singer:

OVERDOSED in a drug-strewn hotel room on a binge with junkie lover Howie Day just days after checking out of rehab. “She was in a terrible state, just sweating and shaking. Her pupils were huge—we thought she was dying,” said Tony;

SHOCKINGLY, he believes Britney was under the influence of drugs and booze at home while her two sons Sean, two, and year-old Jayden James, were there;

SECRETLY snorted cocaine over TWO NIGHTS with pals in a trendy LA nightclub.

Man mountain 6ft 7in Barretto, 27—nicknamed Fat Tony—told us: “I gave evidence to the court because Britney is out of control and needs help.

“I have done this for her children. She’s not a good mother. She has mental problems. With her drug and booze issues, her home is no place for kids to be raised.”

His last-minute evidence capped a nightmare week for Britney in which she was dumped by her manager Jeff Kwatinetz and her lawyer.

She hired married dad-of-two Tony—a former private eye—days after checking out of the Promises rehab centre in Malibu on March 26 and publicly declaring she had beaten booze and drug problems.

Tony is a drugs expert after taking a ten-week police course about their dangers. He realised Britney’s willpower had not lasted—on the frightening night of May 2 in Los Angeles, just hours before the start of her comeback tour in Anaheim.

She went on a date with musician Day, 26—who she’d met in rehab—telling her worried protection team she didn’t need them. Tony said: “We did security checks on Howie and told her he was trouble. But she ignored us.”

Hours later hysterical Britney, 25, called aides, claiming Day was refusing to let her leave their hotel room. Tony recalled: “She said she wanted to cancel the tour. She was very confused. We asked her if she was OK and reminded her she had a show to do. Then Howie came on the phone and started arguing with us. We knew we had to get to her fast.”

Tony raced to LA’s plush Mondrian Hotel with another bodyguard and Britney’s best friend and PA Alli Sims. When they got to their room they found the door open and an appalling scene inside.

Tony said: “We could see Britney all red-eyed from crying. Howie was lying in his boxers asleep on the bed. The hotel room was trashed.

“There were half-eaten plates of food everywhere. There were blankets all over the floor, clothes strewn everywhere. The trash was emptied everywhere over the floor.

“The entire place was littered with empty beer bottles and liquor bottles, small glasses of ice and cigarette butts everywhere.

“On the surface of the dresser, I could see mounds of white powder and a straw on top. I suspected it was cocaine or powdered methamphetamines.

“By the side I spotted a glass pipe, which I knew from my drugs training was often used with crystal meth.”

The drug has similar effects to amphetamine and ecstasy. Overdosing can cause heart failure.

Tony went on: “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Britney was completely out of it. We thought she’d overdosed. She was distraught, crying. Her skin was all waxy. She looked so ill. We tried to speak to her. My fellow bodyguard and Alli were so worried they wanted to get hold of a medic to detoxify her. We were panicking. We thought she was going to die.

“There was talk about where to put the detox line it was that serious—through her arm, which would make fans think she’d been injecting, or through her neck.

“It was very distressing. Eventually we decided to get her out of there. We grabbed her and took her downstairs. All the time all she could say was, ‘I don’t feel good’.

“In the car she was really odd. She kept asking for the air con to be turned up because she was sweating so much. I knew that was a bad sign.

“Somehow, we managed to get her to the gig and on stage in time. When she started singing she was staring intensely at me. She was out of it. I kept telling the other guard she needed help but he said she’ll get you if that’s the case.”

“Critics later panned her performance for lip-synching to her biggest hits. Tony said: “On the way home, she was making up strange songs and singing them in a weird voice.

“Then she wound down the window and started yelling, ‘I’m a rock star. I’m a rock star’.”

It wasn’t the only time Tony witnessed Britney with drugs. “I saw her snort white powder on two nights out at Teddy’s nightclub in LA,” he said. “The first time, she was in a private booth. She was sat with another girl.

“The second time she had asked me to walk her to the rest room. After she’d been inside for about half an hour I poked my head round the door. There she was with a straw up her nose.”

Most disturbing for dad-of-two Tony was her still being hung over by booze and drugs at home with the kids close by. “There were times when Britney appeared to be under the influence near them,” he said. “It was frightening.

“She has a whiskey stash in her pantry—and even if the children are close by, that doesn’t stop her drinking. After rehab she didn’t want people to see her boozing. So in clubs she’d have Jack Daniel’s and coke in polystyrene cups so it would look like coffee.”

Tony added: “I noticed that when she was under the influence of drugs at home, she behaved the same way as she’d done on drugs at the club.
