Pop beauty Britney Spears is prepared to quit her pop career to care for the baby she’s expecting later this year (05).

The Toxic singer and her husband Kevin Federline refuse to hire a nanny to care for their impending arrival.

And Spears has threatened to step away from the limelight if she’s not able to take her baby to recording sessions, tours and interviews.

She explains: “I wouldn’t trust anyone to look after my child, and if that means the end of my career, then so be it.”

Britney Spears has come last in poll of kids in the US to find the Coolest Celebrity Mum.

In honour of Mother’s Day in America next weekend, America Online polled a group of 75,000 kids aged six to 12 to ask them who would make the coolest celebrity mum.

Jessica Simpson topped the poll while Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani also won more votes than the pregnant Britney.

After expressing her doubts over whether Britney Spears could deal with being a mother, Shar Jackson, the ex-girlfriend of Britter’s husband, Kevin Federline, and mother of his two children has retracted her statement.

Jackson previously said: “A baby is not a dog, you can’t just put it away… I don’t know if Britney realises how hard it will be.”

However, in a new interview with MTV Jackson has denied being bitter about her break up with Federline and has said: “My main priority in life is my family, and you know what? In some strange, distant way, she’s part of that now.”

“Every time she (comes over) I give her a hug (and) we hang out for a little bit before they go on their merry way. And I’m cool with that.”

“It’s not like, ‘Oh my God, Britney’s in the house!’.”

What a weird family…

I think people are confused about why they are “filming” with a camera crew in these pictures. As far as I know, Britney and Kevin will be narrating the raw home footage they shot last year..they’re just filming the narration and studio parts of the show here!

Three new Britney song titles have been registered at ASCAP, an association of songwriters which helps publishing companies collect royalties for licensed-out music. The first is a track co-written by Britney with Michelle Bell (co-writer of “I’ve Just Begun” and “Chaotic”) and Bloodshy and Avant, entitled “Take Off,” which is thought to have been considered for “Greatest Hits: My Prerogative,” whilst the second is a new track entitled, “Money, Love & Happiness,” written again by Britney with Michelle Bell, but also with two (as far as we can find) unknown songwriters, named Nadir Khayat and Nanna Kristiansson (these may be alias names, or they may in fact use alias names). The third is a track called “Like I’m Fallin’,” which was again written by Britney with Michelle Bell. The latter two of the three tracks are almost certainly written to be considered for Britney’s fifth studio album.

The ex-girlfriend of Britney Spears’ husband says she isn’t surprised to hear that the pop singer is pregnant. “Hey, it was bound to happen,” actress Shar Jackson told MTV News last week in her first interview since Spears and Kevin Federline announced the pregnancy April 12. “It was a goal, and it was conquered, moving on.”

Jackson, who appeared in the sitcom “Moesha” and 2000 film “Love & Basketball,” has two young children with Federline and said “he loves his kids to death.”

Jackson said she is willing to let her kids have a relationship with Spears’ child. “I mean, they’re family, so if the other side of the family permits, then yeah,” she said.

Jackson, who is starting a cosmetics line with a lip gloss called “He Cheated,” has accused Federline of being unfaithful, but said she doesn’t bear him any ill will.

“It’s cool,” she said. “Obviously, God didn’t think that’s who should be in my life at this particular moment in time and that’s all right.”

BRITNEY SPEARS’ former love rival SHAR JACKSON fears her ex and his new wife are making a terrible mistake in bringing a baby into their marriage - because they hardly know each other.

The actress, who is the mother of KEVIN FEDERLINE’s two children KORI and KALEB, insists the couple should have allowed their marriage to grow before becoming parents.

She says, “A baby is not a dog. You can’t just put it away. I know she (Spears) says she’s had experience with kids, but let me say this: ‘You have not had experience until you have one of your own… I don’t know if Britney realises how hard it will be.”

And Jackson admits her ex has even told her he’s concerned the new baby will be a tough challenge.

She adds, “Kevin is overwhelmed. He has told me that it is really a lot, what with a break-up, a wedding and two babies in a year.”

BRITNEY SPEARS’ husband KEVIN FEDERLINE has been slammed for smoking in the presence of his pregnant wife.

Last week (ends15APR05), TOXIC singer Spears ended weeks of speculation by confirming that she and her husband of seven months are expecting their first child.

And despite the good news, Federline - already a father of two - was photographed smoking as he sat next to his wife in a car on 14 April (05), sparking outrage.

FIT PREGNANCY editor-in-chief PEG MOLINE says that secondhand smoke can be extremely dangerous, affecting the development of the baby’s lungs and possibly leading to childhood asthma.

She notes, “If Kevin wants to smoke, he should do it outside.”
