Do Somethin' Single – Dissapointment

I’m going to take this opportunity to say that I’m very dissapointed in the UK Do Somethin’ singles which were released here today. We got a 2 track single, and an ECD. I can’t believe that’s all we got! Where is the maxi single like every other European country got? Why would we want an ECD?

I don’t understand why they would release an ECD (with Do Somethin’ video in quicktime format) instead of a DVD. The last three singles were released with a DVD, why not this one? Did BMG decide not to spend money on making DVD’s for the single? Whatever their reasons for this release, I am extremely dissapointed !

On the plus side, Do Somethin’ was on the #1 (predicted) shelf in most stores today.

UK Chart Update

“Greatest Hits: My Prerogative” falls 5 places to #57 this week in the official UK album chart.

“Do Somethin'” climbs one place to #24 this week on the official UK downloads chart.

Don’t forget that the “Do Somethin'” singles are available to buy in the UK TOMORROW, so don’t forget to pick up your copy of the CD/DVD, or both if you can!

Rumour: Nicole Wants To Duet With Britney

For her upcoming debut album, Nicole Richie has a few tricks up her sleeve. Nicole has been recording this album for nearly two years and the album is finally near completion. However the first single has yet to be recorded. Why? Nicole has personally asked Britney Spears to guest on the track. Britney has reportedly agreed and the two will meet sometime in March to record the song. The tentative title is, ‘Salsa Salsa,’ which is one of Nicole’s catch phrases from ‘The Simple Life’. Nicole’s album is due this summer.

Britney Competition Win Moved From London To New Orleans

If you are among one of the first British consumers to buy Curious Britney Spears (within the first few days of release,) you will qualify yourself for a chance to meet Britney. You will be entered into a draw and one lucky winner will get the chance to meet their idol stateside. It was originally planned that Britney would be coming to the UK to promote Curious but everything has changed, and the competition winner will now be travelling to Britney’s homeland to meet her instead.

It is still unclear whether Britney will be coming to the UK at all.

South Africa Curious About Britney

Fresh Strategy is proud to announce the launch of the new Britney Spears Curious range. This is the first time the product will be showcased in South Africa. The promotion begins on the 1st of March 2005 in Johannesburg, the 4th in Cape Town and Durban at selected retail stores.

The range Curious by Britney Spears tempts the senses with fragrant blooms of Louisiana Magnolia and is created for any young, vibrant sexy women with high caliber. The scent of Curious is floral, musky and most definitely bold. She discovered that the unique fragrance of Curious has been derived from a white floral concoction. It’s unusual yet daring, the scent really is, well, “curious.”

Curious comes in a uniquely designed charming blue bottle. The pink and azure blue packaging was designed based on Britney’s two favorite colors, and the heart-shaped charms, which dangle from the bottle, were added to “bring luck in love.”

Thanks to John for the info!

Britney's Competition In The UK Singles Chart Next Week

Stereophonics – ‘Dakota’
The Bravery – ‘Honest Mistake’
The Futureheads – ‘The Hounds Of Love’
The Thrills – ‘The Irish Keep Gate-Crashing’
Britney Spears – ‘Do Something’
REM – ‘Electron Blue’
Fightstar – ‘They Liked You Better When You Were Dead’
Ludacris – ‘Get Back’
Moby – ‘Lift Me Up’
Shania Twain – ‘Dont’
Anastacia – ‘Heavy On My Heart’
Elvis Presley – ‘Rock-A-Hula Baby’
Annie – ‘Heartbeat’

I would say that Britney’s main competition for the #1 spot will be: Elvis; Anastacia (all proceeds go to breast cancer charities).

If Britney comes out on top, it will be her sixth UK number one single.

“Do Somethin'” is available to buy on Monday 28th February. There will be an audio CD and a 3 track ECD (with video).
